About Paris

Paris Eve Saray is a documentary filmmaker from Hanford, California. Born and raised in the Central Valley (without an agricultural legacy to inherent), Paris knew every family, small business, and backroad in her vicinity; and yet, she couldn’t quite figure out where she was going in life.

Growing fascinated with geography and anthropology in high school after befriending newly admitted International students, Paris then ventured towards the coast to do her undergrad at UC Santa Barbara. Entering as a global studies major, she quickly combined her creative knack for aesthetics and interest in the world’s customs/cultures to pursue documentary filmmaking with a Film and Media BFA instead.

Since then Paris has travelled to Morocco as a cinematographer, and New York City to receive her masters in Documentary Specialization from Columbia Journalism School. Her work has been featured in a variety of International film festivals. Covering stories ranging from a art cooperative touring Africa, sand depletion along the Gaviota coast, female celebrity tribute artists, latex at the intersection of fashion and fetish, and a new sports doc coming soon... Paris has a niche for pushing the bounds of human interest to create intimate experiences that resonate with large audiences and accurately represent her protagonists.

Working primarily as a cinematographer (who thrives being quick on her feet shooting handheld vérité/observational footage), Paris also directs, produces, and edits in her spare time.
